Position Summary

The Service Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the maintenance and readiness of our equipment fleet. This individual must be passionate about customer service and driven to help people. The Service Manager will hire and motivate a team of shop and field Service Technicians. The individual will be responsible for improving efficiency and customer service by properly maintaining and repairing equipment in a timely manner. CraneWorks/RentalWorks will provide the tools, technology and support necessary to do the job.  


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the repair and maintenance of company owned and customer equipment 
  • Drives fleet readiness via a robust green tagging system for rent ready equipment
  • Stays up to date on industry changes and training that coincides with current equipment making up the fleet
  • Responsible for the effective and time conscious repair of equipment
  • Documents any possible customer damage and bills appropriate work orders timely and accurately
  • Works closely with branch manager and sales team to ensure fleet utilization is maximised
  • Perform quality control checks
  • Update, maintain, and keep organized equipment service records via CMMS
  • Create, update, close, and bill work orders
  • File warranty claims in a timely fashion
  • Commission New Equipment


Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of related equipment
  • Experience with CMMS, particularly Rentlman/Wynne Systems
  • High quality leadership skills
  • Able to communicate via written word properly and effectively
  • Knowledge of work planning and scheduling and other supervisory activities
  • Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements
  • Clear perspective of maintenance and repair issues in the industry
  • Planning and management experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Reporting experience
  • Inventory management experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong technical aptitude is required

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree or trade-school degree preferred
  • 5 years equipment service and maintenance experience
  • 1-3 years leadership experience preferred

License & Certification:

  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment, equipment shop environment, or job site. Noise, fumes, and chemicals associated with a shop environment is expected. The ability to drive at night is required.  


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

Travel Requirements:

  • Infrequent travel to job sites or vendors may be required
