As an intern with the VGM Forbin you will gain valuable work experience in a professional environment, leveraging your prior experience, education, and involvement. Our interns play an essential role in the departments they are part of, working on important responsibilities, special projects, and networking with our teams.
The Graphic Design and Communications Intern will support the Forbin team by assisting with designing digital assets including social media graphics, email templates, and web visuals. You will also support with content writing for blog posts, email copy, and social media captions. In collaboration with other team members, you will play a key role in supporting both internal and client-facing projects. Working Location: On-Site in Waterloo, Iowa
Working Hours: Part-Time Internship, 15 to 20 hours per week
Responsibilities/Duties of the Job
Success as an intern is evaluated by the quality and execution of tasks, teamwork and support provided to peers and the satisfaction of the clients. Job responsibilities may include:
- Provide support to create and/or edit website, blog, social media, and email content through:
- Graphic design support for social media plans and posts,
- Graphic design for campaign projects,
- Assisting with designing marketing collateral and presentations, graphics, and layouts,
- Creating original web design graphics/illustrations, layouts and interactive engagements,
- Writing and editing business marketing communications
- Content strategy and styling support (addition of images, graphics, callouts, text refinement, etc.),
- Maintaining brand consistency across all platforms
- Collaborate with functional teammates on all aspects of projects and technical needs
- Maintain and track projects with mindfulness to priorities
- Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to others in an open, balanced and objective manner
- Undertake other projects and perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Experience creating business and marketing communications
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
Skills and competencies:
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong content writing and communication skills
- Have effective interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with team members, staff and leaders to accomplish goals
- Have the ability to work independently with little supervision while managing multiple tasks
Physical Requirements:
- Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment
- Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
- Moving throughout the VGM facilities when needed
