Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze applicant’s financial status, credit and property evaluations to meet the banks policies and/or investor guidelines.
  • Ensure loan applications are complete, accurate and in accordance with bank policy.
  • Communicate with loan officers to resolve any issues regarding mortgage loan credit decision or acceptable loan collateral.
  • Review and approve loan requests within the Consumer Loan Underwriters lending limits.
  • Submits applications to Loan Committee for a credit decision on loans outside of prescribed guidelines.
  • Add approval conditions or stipulations to loan origination systems.
  • Train appropriate bank staff on consumer lending protocols.
  • Manage and expand the automated approval program for consumer non-real estate loans.
  • Stay abreast of new legislation and regulations that affect the banks consumer lending policies.
  • Administer the loan origination systems related to consumer loan production.
  • Initiate software and/or process changes which improve the customer experience.
  • Support the initiatives of Retail Lending and Bank leadership.
  • Make personal improvements in assigned tasks or the immediate work environment.
  • Frequently offer ideas and suggestions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Follow all rules and guidelines of the Security and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) and be registered with the NMLS. Annual renewal of registrations is required.
  • Perform all job duties and maintain compliance with all banking acts, laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise and recommend tasks for process automation.
  • Advise management on consumer loan product development.
  • Develop training resources and materials for consumer origination, loan processing and servicing staff.
  • Develop tools and resources to mine the Bank’s data in creative or predefined ways to support Retail Lending decision making.
  • May make branch visits for trainings and/or meetings.
  • May backup loan processing, closing or funding duties as directed.
  • May perform a variety of clerical duties which require departmental procedures such as; putting away files, sending files/documents to branches, filing, correspondence, scanning loan documentation for uploading, etc. as needed.

Qualifications Required

(Required education may be satisfied by experience and/or working knowledge)

The candidate must have three years of consumer lending or processing experience and an intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Sitting for extended periods of time, requires close visual acuity and the ability to work and operate computer applications and equipment including copy machine, telephone, scanner or other basic office equipment.  Some infrequent travel is required for branch/department visitations.  The ability to lift, move or carry at least 20 pounds. The job is within the normal office environment range.

Qualifications Preferred

Five years of loan origination, processing, and/or underwriting experience is preferred.
