How You Contribute to Pinnacle Transplant’s Success

Your work directly supports the readiness and efficiency of all PTT Operations. The Director of Purchasing is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of supply and equipment purchasing and policies to ensure availability of materials to meet internal and external demands, lead strategic initiatives to improve supplier service levels, strengthen the supply base, and support long-term business growth. You have ownership to ensure all aspects of the supply chain are running smoothly so ideal conditions are created to produce life-changing treatments for ailments ranging from spinal disc degeneration to wound care. 

Work hours: Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Onsite Position 

Work environment: Office Environment with some interaction within Manufacturing/Warehouse

Location: North Phoenix, near 19th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road

Pay Rate: $153,000 – $188,000, dependent on experience

What You Will Do

  • Optimize the Supplies and Consumables buy plan for lowest total cost, lowest total inventory, and highest quality.
  • Select, evaluate, and manage vendor partnerships.
  • Establish, analyze, and optimize PTTs procurement strategy achieving alignment with business goals.
  • Negotiate long-term supply agreements with key supply partners.
  • Work cross-functionally to define User Requirement Specifications (URS) on all major capital equipment purchases 
  • Develop and lead a robust supplier management program to monitor supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, and total cost.
  • Create, monitor, and report out defined departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 1271 and AATB Standards for the sourcing of Supplies, Reagents, Equipment, and Materials
  • Develop and lead a robust supplier management program to monitor supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, and total cost.
  • Monitor demand forecasts and production schedules to ensure adequate supplies of vended materials. 
  • Maintain knowledge of market norms and trends.
  • Lead and execute the implementation and optimized use of QAD 
  • Responsible for the investigation of potential issue reports or nonconformances assigned to, or involving the functional area.  Participates in the Quality Management System by way of initiating, authoring and approval of Material Specifications, Engineering Change Control Requests, Return Material Authorizations, Corrective/Preventative Action Reports, or other Quality System documentation as required or assigned.
  • Supervise team – including but not limited to hiring, training, timekeeping, and managing performance.
  • Lead the team to success by communicating, planning, monitoring, and appraising results, coaching team members, and developing and executing on systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Qualifications You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 7 years’ experience overseeing purchasing and supplier management preferred in a life sciences industry such as Tissue Banking, Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals, and/or Semiconductors
  • 3 years, recommended, of overseeing buyer/purchasing staff
  • Experience in people leadership (regulated industry is a strong preference), 

How You Will Grow

  • Develop skills in tissue banking workflow, compliance/audit, and communication.
  • Develop, lead, and execute an ISO 13485 compliant and cost optimized supplier management strategy.
  • Continuous improvement and enhance material specifications process to streamline the process, decrease the number of material specifications documents, and ensure multiple backup vendors for materials.

Who You Will Partner With

  • Senior company management. You will have daily verbal and written communication with the organization’s leadership to convey updates, collaborate on decisions, and execute on deliverables.
  • Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, and Sales. You will work closely with cross-functional representatives from all departments within the company to ensure all duties are understood and executed according to PTT policies and applicable regulations.
  • Key vendors. You will routinely work with vendors and other outside partners.
  • Your Team. Regularly work in independent and team settings maintaining professional communication with all PTT Associates.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Finance partners on contracts, pricing, and inventory to ensure efficient operations and drive business growth and profitability.

Where You Will Work

  • Full Time position (40 hours or more) based in Arizona.  Hours may include evenings and weekends to perform tasks outlined in the job description.
  • Position will also work within an office environment.
