Sunday River is seeking a SnowSports Training Manager to lead, develop and deliver dynamic training initiatives that support every aspect of our SnowSports School. This role drives instructor growth through training development, certification advancement, and ongoing education, ensuring our team is equipped to provide exceptional experiences for every guest. You’ll collaborate closely with SnowSports leadership—including the Children’s, Adult, and Seasonal Program Managers, as well as the School Director—to align training across programs and raise the standard of excellence. During peak times, you’ll also play a hands-on role in daily operations, from lineups and staffing coordination to on-the-ground support in Children’s, Adult, and Private lessons. Beyond Sunday River, you’ll help foster collaboration with other eastern Boyne Resorts SnowSports Schools, strengthening training programs and building a connected, engaged community of instructors.
Responsibilities:Training Excellence
- Plan and implement early season training for returning and new team members at Sunday River SnowSports School
- Create a season-long training plan and communicate detailed schedule to the management team
- Develop and support a core group of trainers who can lead and implement training withing he SnowSports School
- Lead on-snow training by example and engage directly in team members’ growth as instructors
- Increase team member certification participation and achievement within PSIA/AASI organizations
- Produce written training materials for team members as needed
- Observe lessons and provide training opportunities to enhance guest experience and instructor performance
- Work with School Director to facilitate training for all customer segments including Children’s Groups, Adult Groups, Privates, School Groups, Seasonal Programs, and the GACP Program
- Teach clinics, private, and group lessons of varying levels, abilities, and ages
- Facilitate and work with eastern Boyne Resorts to orchestrate larger training programs and instructor engagement
- Use of the SnowSports School instruction and skiing/riding model as well as utilizing PSIA/AASI philosophies in training clinics
- Track training attendance and communicate with management team to ensure complianc with training requirements
- Use Flaik to maintain an updated training calendar and curriculum
Communication & Leadership
- Foster a training culture throughout the SnowSports School
- Maintain open and timely communication with all instructors regarding training needs and opportunities
- Provide clear expectation and constructive feedback to trainers and instructors
- Remain available to team members for questions, concerns, or problems on a daily basis
- Build connections with all program team members to foster their growth as educators
Peak Period Operational Support
- Assist with daily lineups for Adult Group lessons, Children’s programs, and Private lessons during peak periods
- Support program managers with staffing coordination when training schedule permits
- Provide operation assistance across all customer segments during high-volume periods
- Help ensure smooth daily operations while maintaining primary focus on training initiatives
GACP Program Support
- Serve as primary training liaison for the Gould Academy Competition Program
- Support and assist in developing training curriculum for Race, Snowboard, and Freestyle disciplines
- Build connections with GACP team members to foster their growth as educators
- Act as conduit between GACP and SnowSports School for training alignment and best practices
Cross Departmental Collaboration
- Collaborate with SnowSports School management team to ensure consistent quality of products, team member expectations, and program goals
- Partner with Children’s Program Manager, Adult Program Manager and Seasonal Program Manager to share training resources and build training specific to each customer segment
- Work with management team on aligned training initiatives across all programs
- Assist other departments when requested
- Perform any additional tasks requested by supervisor
- Ability to keep a positive outlook, problem solve, improvise, adapt, adjust, and overcome challenges in the learning environment as needed.
- PSIA/AASI Educational staff member or PSIA 3- Resort Trainer
- Be able to communicate well with guests, both children and adults, other team members and managers. Clear, courteous, timely, and well-spoken communication skills are required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Wages range from $26 - $30 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for professional growth and advancement
