Harbor is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Toledo team! This position is responsible for patient care under the direction of medical leadership, and/or a licensed health care professional.

Position is full-time, 40 hours per week.

Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited college or university. 
  • Previous experience in Mental Health preferred.
  • Must be CMA or RMA test eligible. CMA or RMA prior to employment preferred.
  • Must be able to perform clinical and clerical duties as needed. 
  • Electronic Medical Records experience preferred. 
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a strong commitment towards achieving customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in data entry and be able to navigate through Microsoft Windows based applications.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people and be a team player.
  • When applicable, non-licensed staff will be required to complete 20 hours of CEUs every 24 months.
  • BLS and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.

Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:

  1. Assists provider with patient care.
  2. Provides Patient/Family education.
  3. Assist patients with medication prescriptions and testing procedures as directed by providers.
  4. May assume responsibilities of determining and responding to the needs of patients and visitors when they contact the practice either by phone or in person.
  5. May be required to fill in for front desk staff if needed.
  6. Answers and/or triages patient phone calls.
  7. Coordinates scheduling of patients' appointments.
  8. Assists clinical staff and/or providers as needed.
  9. Provides quality and timely support to both internal and external customers and strives for customer satisfaction.
  10. Documents in a clear, efficient, and effective manner, in conjunction with leadership and Harbor guidelines.
  11. Attends meetings as appropriate and serves on office committees as assigned.
  12. Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates continued growth.
  13. In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
  14. May float to other locations to accommodate client or agency need.

Additional Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment services may include:

Documentation

  1. Responsible for the quality and completeness of the clinical record.
  2. Develops and updates Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for each client.
  3. Responsible for accurate and timely documentation which may include but is not limited to: activity/progress notes, ISPs, DPS logs, incident report forms and any other forms necessary to document services.

Provides Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment service activities:

  1. Evaluation
  2. Assesses client needs and formulates a strength-based ISP in conjunction with the client, family and/or significant others.
  3. Evaluates and revises the ISP according to the client’s responses and needs.
  4. Crisis prevention/intervention
  5. Follows crisis prevention/intervention protocols.
  6. Ongoing interventions
  7. Provides support, education and consultation to clients, families, and/or significant others.
  8. Provides therapeutic interventions as noted in the ISP to maintain the client in the least-restrictive environment and to enhance client and family functioning.
  9. Monitors clients to identify and minimize effects of psychiatric symptoms.
  10. Provides education on self-management of symptoms to client, families, and/or significant others.
  11. Collaboration
  12. Assists the client and family in increasing social support skills and networks.
  13. Coordinates indicated evaluations and assessments by internal and/or external providers.
  14. Coordinates and monitors all services identified in the ISP.
  15. Provides assistance in gaining access to essential community resources.
