Major/Essential Functions
- Collaborate with the Biomedical Equipment Technician to support research equipment by monitoring, maintaining, repairing, or refurbishing commonly used laboratory equipment managed by the Office of Research (OR), under the direction of the Assistant Managing Director
- Assist in the review and annual update of the Research Continuity of Operations Plan, ensuring coordination with OR leadership and technical staff
- Collaborate with the Biomedical Equipment Technician to oversee OR inventory for all tagged and non-tagged assets, including coordination of surplus requests as needed
- Maintain and regularly update the preventive maintenance schedule for all OR-managed equipment, partnering with vendors to ensure timely service
- Participate in weekly walkthroughs of OR-managed research spaces with the Biomedical Equipment Technician; report findings to the Assistant Managing Director
- Support the processing of FBI background checks for individuals requesting access to Select Agent rooms, ensuring compliance with institutional and federal policies
- Provide collaborative support during the annual BSL3 shutdown, including biosafety cabinet and equipment certification and assisting with project coordination
- Assist with the review and approval process for badge access requests for MSB1, MSB2 4th floor labs, and OR suite, ensuring alignment with OR access policies
- Coordinate with the team on key request reviews and approvals for MSB1, MSB2 4th floor areas, and OR suites
- Attend monthly Institutional Safety Committee meetings, sharing relevant updates and bringing back action items to the team
- Assist with research space allocation and take primary responsibility for coordinating and submitting data for the annual state space survey
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and special projects in support of OR operations, research continuity, and team objectives, collaborating closely with staff and leadership to identify and implement effective solutions
- Perform all other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with biosafety regulations, inventory management systems, and coordination of facility access and security protocols
- Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and research facility operations in an academic or biomedical setting
