UL Solutions is seeking a Laboratory Assistant, to work on-site at our Northbrook, IL campus to coordinate workflow, interpret test methods, and distribute samples throughout the laboratory for testing.
- Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
- Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
- As directed coordinates defined test plans and datasheets.
- Records and explains test results.
- Reads and interprets results of tests.
- Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test methods.
- Examines test samples, and reviews test requests with requesters of testing.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
- As instructed examines customer samples and coordinates testing workflow.
- Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
- Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
- Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.
- Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.
- Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
- Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent
- Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must
- Logistics experience is a plus
- LIMS experience is a plus
Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career . The estimated salary range for this position is $35,500 to $45,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
