A Cucurbit Research Assistant is needed to assist the University of New Hampshire Cucurbit Breeding Program (https://unhcucurbits.org/) with plant care and maintenance in field and greenhouse settings. The program is based in Durham, NH. No prior training is required. Training will be provided to perform all required tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities

Specific tasks may include:

  • Weeding

  • Training plants

  • Assisting in pollination

  • Cutting and processing fruit

  • Cleaning seed

  • Taking data such as fruit weight, flesh color, dry matter, and other such measurements using various apps and instruments.

Requirements

Minimal Acceptable Education & Experience

  • High school diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A background/interest in horticulture/agriculture is desirable, but the position is open to all motivated candidates.
