Key Responsibilities
- Lead on delivering a broad spectrum of field based activities such as; trunk & distribution main isolations, asset investigation & validation, operability testing, reservoir outages & mains commissioning, and all associated water quality activities such as flushing and sampling.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager, lead and control all on-site field activities including complex and emergency works, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of the activity/project.
- Liaise directly with all stakeholders including desktop & onsite teams, third party contractors, suppliers & client representatives to ensure the highest standard of communication between all parties.
- Possess the confidence & knowledge to suggest resolutions, new ideas and areas for improvement and take a lead on implementation.
- Responsible for briefing all team members, subcontractors and suppliers on site-specific RAMS, project briefings and any associated toolbox talks and safe operating procedures
- Carry out comprehensive site surveys, risk and hazard reports and inspections for submission to clients and to supporting RAMS preparation.
- Use GIS plans and other reference documents to undertake comprehensive site assessments such as point of work risk assessments, site survey reports & trace extensions.
- Conduct investigations & observations to support the continuous improvement to field based work activities, reporting standards, traffic management considerations & night work referrals.
- Recognise issues that may arise, identify the root cause, use the resources available and troubleshoot to resolve, repair or make adjustments as required in liaison with all stakeholders.
- Ensure seamless project/work activity execution and foster a positive team culture, motivating and empowering field-based team members to achieve a safe and successful outcome.
- Utilising your experience on the network, you will be responsible for coaching & mentoring field team colleagues and sharing your knowledge & skills.
- In collaboration with the Field Operations Supervisor, you will carry out routine HSEQ and capability observation audits providing feedback and guidance.
- In collaboration with the HSEQ Manager you will support the delivery of bi-annual safety stand down days and as an active member of the Health and Safety committee you will attend the regular meetings and take responsibility for delivering actions and recommend solutions to improve ways of working.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a practical clean water industry field experience
- First-person lead on trunk main isolations on large diameter mains
- Valve operations including CALM Networks
- EUSR Water Hygiene
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Proficiency with IT programs like Office 365, GIS mapping tools, PDA/Tablet use and online reporting software.
- NRSWA Supervisor (desired)
- Ideal experience includes: District metered area validation, zonal pressure tests and experience with valve shuts offs and step testing. Trunk and distribution main isolations, asset verification, Probe installations and experience with mains disinfection.
