 đ About the Role
Are you ready to lead frontline teams in shaping Nottinghamâs green spaces? Weâre looking for a proactive and motivated Public Realm Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations and performance across Grounds Maintenance sitesâincluding HRA estates, public highways, and Parks.
This role is vital to maintaining high standards of service delivery, mentoring staff, and driving continuous improvement. Youâll be responsible for supervising up to 20 frontline operatives and coordinating with subcontractors and partners to ensure the cityâs public realm is safe, attractive, and well-managed.
đ Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise operational teams to deliver high-quality greenspace maintenance.
- Oversee daily performance, productivity, and quality assurance.
- Allocate labour, plant, and materials effectively to meet service standards.
- Support induction, training, and probation monitoring for new staff.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and Council policies.
- Conduct ward walks, estate inspections, and develop work plans based on findings.
- Maintain accurate records including timesheets, RTWs, and absence logs.
- Participate in standby rota for evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
đ„ What Weâre Looking For
- Demonstrable experience supervising frontline Grounds Maintenance operations.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and safe working practices.
- Ability to plan and deploy resources effectively.
- Experience using technology in field-based environments.
- Understanding of fleet and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
đ Qualifications
- Grounds/horticulture qualifications (e.g. NVQ, apprenticeship).
- Minimum 2 yearsâ experience as a Skilled Operative.
- NRSWA Streetworks Certificate.
- City & Guilds PA1/PA6 herbicide handling.
- IOSH Certificate.
- Full UK driving licence (Category B).
