We are seeking a seasoned Test Principal Engineer to lead the validation strategy for our DOCSIS-based broadband access systems. This role demands deep technical expertise in DOCSIS technologies, distributed systems, and enterprise-grade software platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our element management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of test strategies for DOCSIS-based broadband access systems and element management platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product, and support teams to ensure test coverage aligns with system architecture and business goals.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for validating distributed, multi-tiered applications, including FCAPS functionalities.
- Drive performance, scalability, and reliability testing across geographically distributed systems with high concurrency and multi-threading.
- Ensure robust validation of REST APIs, SNMP, IPFIX, Netconf/Yang, and database interactions (Postgres, MongoDB).
- Oversee testing of HA, clustering, and redundancy features to ensure fault tolerance and system resilience.
- Recreate and simulate complex system issues in test environments that closely mirror customer deployments to ensure accurate troubleshooting and validation.
- Promote a data-driven testing culture focused on continuous improvement, quality metrics, and best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in testing distributed, multi-tiered enterprise applications, preferably in telecommunications or access network domains.
- Strong understanding of DOCSIS MAC and PHY layer protocols and their interactions within broadband infrastructures.
- Hands-on experience in Linux environments and Java-based applications, including multi-threading, exception handling, and memory management.
- Proven expertise in validating FCAPS functionalities across scalable and geographically distributed systems.
- Experience in testing REST APIs, SNMP, IPFIX, Netconf/Yang, and data formats like JSON and XML.
- Familiarity with Postgres and MongoDB for database validation and performance benchmarking.
- Knowledge of HA, clustering, and redundancy testing strategies.
- Exposure to SDN controllers (e.g., ONOS) and containerization frameworks like Docker.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools and version control systems such as Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, and Jira.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to recreate complex system issues in test environments that mirror customer deployments.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
