About the Department
To perform a wide variety of duties and activities related to the administration of elections, including processing, and analyzing voter registration and absentee voting documents, maintaining information on registered voters, and polling places, assigning election judges, and performing other election-related duties as assigned. Duties assigned are of simple to moderate complexity. Employee performs duties at a high level of proficiency with moderate supervision and instruction.
This is a limited duration position. An employee in an unclassified position shall not have tenure but shall be entitled to all benefits associated with tenure such as vacation leave, sick leave, health insurance, and other benefits as determined by the county board.

Flexible Workplace:
This position is identified under the designation of ‘flex work eligible’, meaning that the employee can formally opt to be in-office full-time or work a flex schedule in which at least two-days per week are performed in office and other days can be performed in a remote-first environment. Regardless of selection, the position carries expectations regarding on-site responsibilities and will require schedule flexibility beyond the minimum expectations set forth in the county’s flexible workplace policy. Position Duties
- Promote a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful workplace.
- Assist with performing the statutory duties of the Ramsey County Auditor as directed by the department’s division manager and supervisors.
- Knowledge of the Minnesota Statewide Voter Registration System.
- Provide support to staff assisting with voter registration, absentee voting, election judges, and warehouse.
- Accept official documents and review for completeness and legal compliance, issue elections-related documents and other materials, and process customer transactions.
- Provide election-related information to public by telephone, email, written correspondence, and in-person.
- Ability to manage competing timelines during the election cycle.
- Ability to deliver training to election judges, staff, and members of the public.
- Perform other election-related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in political science, public administration, planning, communications or a related field.
Experience: Six months experience as an election’s assistant or an equivalent position in a local, county, state, or federal government office or equivalent in an election related activity.
Substitution: Equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Certifications/Licensure: None.
Other Qualifications
This is a limited duration, at-will position. This position requires an open screening and selection process. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
Definition of Unclassified from the Ramsey County Personnel Act:
Subdivision 1. General. "The appointing authority may discharge employees in the unclassified service with or without cause. Employees in the unclassified service have no right to a grievance appeal from discharge or other disciplinary action under sections 383A.281 to 383A.301. An employee in an unclassified position shall not have tenure but shall be entitled to all benefits associated with tenure such as vacation leave, sick leave, health insurance, and other benefits as determined by the county board."
