Education/Certification:
- Preferred: High school graduate or GED
- Required: Valid Class "C" Texas driver's license and be insurable by the district
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and practices
- Knowledge of proper use of hand and power tools, machines, and equipment
- Understanding of basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Ability to follow maintenance schedules and procedures
- Ability to work within safety guidelines and apply regulations
Technology Proficiency:
- Basic computer operation preferred, e.g., word processing, and use of email
Experience:
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in maintenance or related field
Function
Perform, under general supervision, routine preventative maintenance and inspection on district facilities and equipment. Assist in identifying potential issues and ensuring equipment operates efficiently to prevent breakdowns.
Reports To:
Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director and the general supervision of the Maintenance Coordinator
Responsibilities:
MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Concentration (detailed work), communicating (verbal/written), interpretive skills (policy, procedure, data), reasoning skills, understanding verbal instructions, analyzing, differentiating, memorizing, reading, coordinating, and emotional control.
Primary DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments during inspections to avoid equipment failure.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and work performed
- Identify and report any potential issues that could lead to equipment or system failure
- Adhere to established maintenance schedules for district-wide facilities
- Ensure safe operation of district vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Comply with district policies and procedures, including safety regulations
- assist with emergency maintenance as required
Secondary DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Assist other trades and departments as needed in maintenance or repair tasks
- Support the implementation of energy management and conservation practices
- Assist in maintaining building systems, including lighting, security, and fire alarms
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors

- Lifting (heavy, 45 pounds or over), carrying (heavy, 45 pounds or over), stooping, walking, climbing (stairs, ladders, scaffolding), balancing, crouching, kneeling, pulling, crawling, working in confined areas, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, visual acuity, driving (car, truck)
- Outside temperature extremes, noises, vibrating, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, kneeling, chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dust, smoke), humidity extremes, low or intense illumination, works with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts, prolonged or irregular hours.
