The Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for driving transformational change in IG and Legacy fundraising. They will set objectives and oversee team activity to deliver the entire journey from acquisition to stewardship, with the aim of achieving significant growth in revenue income to support our ambitious plans to bring Maggie’s cancer care to everyone who needs us. 

You will be responsible for managing external agencies and suppliers to deliver excellent work, on time and to budget as well as managing end-to-end, multi-channel campaigns including the delivery of these through colleagues and agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in project managing fundraising campaigns from pre-campaign insight and briefing, through to delivery, optimisation and post-campaign review. 
  • Develop new ways to engage supporters and grow income from individual giving.
  • Monitor market trends, undertake competitor analysis and keep up to date with sector developments to capitalise on opportunities in the external market.
  • Deliver compelling propositions and campaigns to drive action from new supporters.
  • Build engaging journeys to retain and develop existing supporters.
  • Manage end-to-end, multi-channel campaigns.
  • Engage and manage external agencies and suppliers to deliver excellent work.
  • Develop strong, effective working relationships and collaborate across key internal teams to deliver existing activity and identify new opportunities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the individual giving strategy, developing multi-year plans and budgets.
  • Lead and manage the process of income and expenditure management, KPI reporting against targets and budget reforecasts, including the preparation of key lottery information for submission to the Gambling Commission.
  • Review live metrics, continuously testing and learning to optimise campaigns.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Proactively identify new ways to engage supporters and grow income from legacy and in-memory giving.
  • Manage the Legacy and In-memory team and work closely with Director of Marketing & Communications on strategic development for legacy and in-memory giving at Maggie’s.
  • Champion individual giving and legacy giving across the charity and provide on-going training and support on these areas for centre colleagues.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Substantial experience of different marketing techniques and platforms, including paid digital, plus individual giving product-specific knowledge and legacy marketing.
  • A motivating, empowering leader who gets the best from their high-performing team.
  • An engaging individual who builds strong connections and drives internal collaboration across the organisation.
  • Ability to influence colleagues and drive through new strategic initiatives.
  • Highly numerate with experience of commissioning, synthesising and applying data insight to continuously optimise activity and meet ambitious targets.
  • Solid understanding of and compliance with the principles of charity law and data protection regulations, including lottery fundraising.
  • Robust management of a significant expenditure budget.
  • Proven experience of prioritising multiple projects.
  • Outstanding creative judgement to engage, inspire and drive people to act.
  • Extensive experience of effective agency and supplier management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
