Job Description:

Your Impact

Are you ready to be part of a team at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and international trade? Leonardo’s UK Trade Compliance team plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless import and export of some of the world’s most advanced products — from airborne radar and infrared detectors to cyber-security solutions and rotary-wing aircraft serving commercial, security, and defence sectors.

We’re currently looking for a Trade Compliance Administrator to join our high-performing Import/Export team based at our Edinburgh facility. This is a fantastic opportunity to support mission-critical compliance operations while working within a fast-paced and innovative environment.

As a key member of our Import/Export Control team based in Edinburgh, you’ll play a vital role in supporting Leonardo’s compliance with UK customs regulations. Your work will ensure the smooth and secure movement of our advanced technologies across borders. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and submit accurate import and export customs instructions to freight agents and brokers in line with UK regulations and company policies.
  • Liaise with internal teams to gather correct clearance information for international shipments.
  • Instruct freight agents/brokers based on specific business needs and shipment requirements.
  • Review customs clearance information to ensure adherence to Leonardo’s instructions.
  • Monitor post-departure customs entries, investigate discrepancies, and resolve any anomalies.
  • Notify relevant business units of clearance conditions or special requirements.
  • Develop working knowledge of the UK’s Customs Declaration Service (CDS) to support future compliance processes.
  • Compile and maintain accurate data packs for import/export transactions, ensuring they are audit-ready and stored according to company procedures.
  • Support the preparation of compliance reports for submission to UK authorities, including Deferment Reports and Export Licence Transparency Reports.
  • Assist with processing and reconciling invoices from Freight Forwarders to ensure billing accuracy and cost control.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an organised and reliable team player who enjoys supporting others and takes pride in delivering high-quality work. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling multiple tasks, enjoys working with people, and is keen to learn and grow within a supportive team.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs.
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with a willingness to take initiative and support colleagues when needed.
  • Team-oriented mindset, showing respect, empathy, and a collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Confident using Microsoft Outlook to manage emails and calendars.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel — able to create and update documents, reports, and presentations.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
