Your role in the Team’s Success 

We are now looking for an experienced Technology Delivery Manager for a maternity cover position (9-12 months) to act as the interface for a group of technical teams, ensuring smooth software delivery and optimisation for early value delivery. While experienced engineering managers own major strategic initiatives, this role focuses on delivering incremental improvements and supporting them when required through dependency management with technology functions outside the UK. You will manage and optimise workflow into and out of the UK Technology Division while supporting the Head of UK Technology with team management, resourcing, planning, and work visualisation. 

What you’ll do 

Delivery Leadership and Optimisation 

  • Focus on delivering incremental value improvements as well as unexpected/unplanned work such as regulatory items that require coordination outside of established team structures 

  • Support experienced engineering managers who own major strategic initiatives, particularly through understanding external dynamics and ways of working outside the UK Technology division 

  • Identify, manage and coordinate dependencies (inbound/outbound) with other Technology Delivery Managers 

  • Anticipate and resolve potential blockers to delivery using technical expertise 

  • Translate technical issues into clear options enabling swift decision making 

 

UK Technology Division Management and Coordination 

  • Manage, optimise and visualise workflow in and out of the UK division 

  • Support the Head of UK Technology with management of technology teams, including resourcing, planning and work visualisation 

  • Coordinate with non-delivery technology functions, such as Incident Management, to ensure seamless operations 

  • Provide strategic oversight of the technology team's capacity and resource allocation across the division 

 

Team Enablement and Continuous Improvement 

  • Provide support and mentor teams on agile practices and data-driven continuous improvement 

  • Help teams understand and address bottlenecks using empirical methods 

  • Support teams in continually improving standards, ways of working and organisational structure 

  • Enable work by ensuring teams have the resources needed to start and track the process 

 

Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication 

  • Excel at stakeholder communication at all levels 

  • Collaborate closely with Delivery Managers, Engineering Managers, Product Managers and business stakeholders to optimise delivery timelines 

  • Provide regular delivery updates through verbal and written communications 

  • Support project discovery, definition and estimation coordination 

  • Attend stakeholder meetings and represent the domain in project working groups 

What you’ll need for this role 

  • Proven track record of delivering complex cross-functional projects from inception to delivery 

  • Strong technical foundation with the ability to understand architectural systems and engineering concepts and coordinate optimal solutions 

  • Experience managing complex dependencies across multiple teams and external stakeholders 

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to engage effectively across all organisational levels 

  • Ability to translate high-level strategic initiatives into tangible action plans 

  • Excellent organisation and project planning skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives 

  • Deep knowledge of agile methodologies and the ability to mentor teams in best practices 

  • Good working understanding of continuous delivery and DevOps frameworks
