Job title – Operational Buyer

Contract type: Permanent- 37.5 hours per week 
Location – Malvern – Onsite- 5 days per week

About the role

As an Operational Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and services to meet production demand and forecast requirements. You will be responsible for managing the full procurement cycle, from raising purchase requisitions and generating purchase orders in SAP, to communicating with suppliers and tracking orders through to final delivery.

Your role will also involve resolving delivery, invoice, and pricing discrepancies, while building strong knowledge of the commodities, inventory, and supplier base you manage. Success in this position relies on maintaining proactive communication with suppliers and production planning teams, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of all parts and services critical to operations.

 

What you will bring to the role:

  • Process MRP outputs, raise purchase orders via approved suppliers, and maintain accurate data in SAP to ensure production demand is met

  • Build and manage professional relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance through KPIs, root cause analysis, and implementing improvement plans where required

  • Regularly expedite materials, resolve delivery, booking-in, invoice, and quality queries promptly, supporting production continuity

  • Maintain daily communication with planning and production teams, attend production meetings, and provide updates on supplier performance, shortages, and delivery schedules

  • Support best-practice purchasing methods, contribute to supply chain efficiency initiatives, and coordinate with commodity buyers on projects, contracts, and quality notifications

  • Ensure all parts and materials are delivered on time and in line with supplier commitments, keeping the business informed through clear and timely communication

About you:

  • Degree-level education and/or CIPS qualification preferred (equivalent experience will also be considered).

  • Proven purchasing experience within a low- to mid-volume OEM environment.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with SAP S/4 ERP highly advantageous.

  • Solid understanding of supplier management and development techniques, with the ability to further build and apply this knowledge.
