The Investment Product Taxation Team forms part of Legal Financial Products, Credit & COO at Julius Baer, operating as an independent second line of defense within the Legal function.YOUR CHALLENGE
The Tax Specialist – Investment Products will join the Investment Product Taxation Team within Legal Financial Products, Credit & COO, taking ownership of taxation aspects and control activities related to investment products globally.
Verify the tax treatment of investment products with respect to income tax (across multiple jurisdictions), withholding tax, and financial transaction taxes (e.g., stamp duty, securities transfer tax)
Provide investment product taxation support to key stakeholders including Private Banking, Global Products & Solutions (GPS) on product offerings and client solutions
Maintain and update the tax suitability rule engine to reflect the latest legislative changes, tax rulings, and internal policy decisions, ensuring fiscally suitable product offerings and client solutions
Perform independent monitoring and control activities as part of the second line of defence, validating the correct implementation of tax rules, systems, and processes, and escalating identified gaps or risks
Impart product taxation expertise through dedicated training sessions and enhancing internal education material on investment product taxation topics
Monitor investment product taxation developments, international and national legislative changes, and assess their impact on current practices and systems
YOUR PROFILE
University degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will be considered
Ideally a minimum of 2 years of post-academic experience in a financial institution, law firm, audit firm, or corporate tax environment
Experience in private banking, wealth management, or capital markets is strongly preferred
Sound understanding of Swiss and/or international tax principles affecting investment products
Familiarity with Swiss tax law and selected foreign tax regimes relevant to Julius Baer’s client base
Knowledge of financial products (equities, bonds, funds, structured products) and trading environments
Experience with tax automation tools, rule engines, or data validation systems is an advantage
Ability to interpret complex legal and fiscal concepts and derive accurate, business-relevant conclusions
Proactive and solution-driven: Takes initiative to address gaps and improve processes
Clear communicator: Explains technical tax topics effectively to non-specialists
Collaborates constructively across functions and levels
Proficiency in English, German is a strong advantage; additional languages are beneficial
