DBS Bank Ltd opened its Australia Branch in Sydney in June 2015 and has been steadily growing since this time. DBS Bank Ltd, Australia Branch (DBS Australia) is regulated by Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) as well as the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). The branch offers a wide range of products and services to wholesale clients through our frontline teams in Institutional Banking Group, Global Transaction Services, Global Financial Markets (incl Treasury), and Project Finance. The Australian branch is growing with the expansion of the trading desk and progressively bringing more services onshore.

The frontline teams of DBS Australia are supported by dedicated Technology & Operations, Finance, Risk Management Group, Legal & Compliance, and Human Resources teams in Australia.

About BU

IBG Australia is responsible for originating, building and maintaining the business portfolio of DBS Australia, in accordance with the Branch’s business strategies and plans. 

The Relationship Manager (‘RM’) Teams are the primary client facing function of DBS Australia responsible for customer selection / credit underwriting, due diligence, and onboarding activities. The RMs are also responsible for on-going monitoring of their respective customer portfolios ensuring their performance and credit quality are satisfactory, as well as compliance with regulatory requirements.           

The Business Management Team (‘BM Team’) sits within the AU Branch COO Office and acts as the conduit between the RM Teams, internal stakeholders and our customers.

Job Purpose

This is a newly created role within the BM Team to further support the growth in the business.

The role will support the IBG BM Team Lead primarily with enablement-based activities – including delivery of project & process initiatives and new products. The individual will also support the core team activities including KYC.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide ongoing business management support to IBG.
  • Delivery of enablement-based activities.
  • Compliance with head office policies and procedures, and all prevailing regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the Relationship Managers to manage KYC, loan & credit administrative tasks associated with their portfolios.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of projects & process improvement initiatives to support the business, working closely with local and regional teams.
  • Responsible for end-to-end deal life cycle support for IBG RM’s – including KYC, credit and post approval activities (incl. credit monitoring).
  • Work collaboratively with the business (IBG / GTS) to understand, and roll out new products (including the preparation of all necessary new product approvals) to meet business needs.
  • Analysis, and monitoring of key KRI metrics to provide actionable insights to business on a regular basis.
  • Act as the central point of contact alongside the IBG BM Team Lead for all internal and external assurance-based activities (e.g. RCSA, annual external audit).
  • Champion a strong risk and control culture, balancing the pursuit of business with internal controls. Partner closely with the UORM, and Line 2 to uplift risk & control culture.
  • Work with internal stakeholders (including operations) to deliver positive customer experiences.
  • Support the BM Team Lead to implement policies / regulatory requirements within the Branch.
  • Responsible for the development of peers, including through coaching / training.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience within corporate / institutional banking.
  • Strong understanding of corporate credit & credit related processes – in particular loans, loan activations and covenant monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end customer life cycle within a corporate / institutional banking environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders to drive outcomes.
  • Preferred understanding of KYC, and associated requirements.
  • Currently operating at an Assistant Vice President level (or equivalent), or above.
  • Candidates should be comfortable driving transformation, challenging legacy ways of working and managing change in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically to resolve complex issues.
  • The individual should be self-motivated and have an ability to work independently or in teams (with a desire to lead people preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize often conflicting demands to achieve business outcomes.
  • Ability to balance business expediency with risk & control.
  • Proven experience in delivering timely, high-quality presentations with a strong attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced abilities in MS Office Tool (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) & experience with creating detailed process maps.
