Position Overview

We are seeking a detail oriented Discovery Specialist/Paralegal with expertise in managing complex family law discovery processes. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, proficiency in handling voluminous document requests, and the ability to work independently while supporting our attorneys and clients throughout the litigation process.

Core Responsibilities

Discovery Management:

  • Manage all aspects of the discovery process in family law cases, including divorces, child custody disputes, alimony determinations, and related matters
  • Coordinate and oversee document production requests, interrogatories, and requests for admissions
  • Review, organize, and analyze voluminous financial records, bank statements, tax returns, and business documents
  • Prepare comprehensive discovery responses and ensure timely compliance with court deadlines
  • Maintain detailed discovery logs and tracking systems
  • Coordinate with opposing counsel regarding discovery disputes and extensions

Case Support:

  • Assist attorneys with drafting pleadings, legal correspondence, and other case-related documents
  • Handle the collection, review, and organization of discovery materials
  • Maintain case files, ensure accurate tracking of incoming and outgoing materials, and manage deadlines
  • Communicate with clients to request, obtain, and clarify necessary documents and information
  • Draft and file family law pleadings, motions, and orders with accuracy and efficiency

Financial Analysis:

  • Prepare financial affidavits, child support calculations, and other financial discovery documents
  • Analyze financial records to identify discrepancies, hidden assets, and income sources
  • Assist with asset valuation and financial disclosure preparation
  • Calculate income for support purposes using Florida guidelines

Administrative Duties:

  • E-file court documents and maintain meticulous case calendars
  • Coordinate court appearances, mediations, depositions, and other legal events
  • Manage document production databases and electronic discovery platforms
  • Prepare and organize supporting documentation for claims related to alimony, child support, and attorney's fees

Required Qualifications

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of family law paralegal experience with specific focus on discovery
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex discovery processes
  • Proficiency in preparing financial discovery and child support guideline worksheets
  • Strong ability to analyze financial documents and calculate income for support purposes
  • Exceptional organizational and documentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency with legal practice management software (Clio experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of Florida Family Law, including state-specific procedures and requirements

Discovery Management Expertise

Applicants must demonstrate ability to handle:

  • Large-scale document productions involving financial records, business documents, and personal files
  • Electronic discovery processes including data collection, review, and production
  • Discovery disputes and motion practice
  • Coordinating with forensic accountants and other expert witnesses
  • Managing privileged document reviews and privilege logs
  • Preparing comprehensive discovery responses under tight deadlines

Work Environment

  • Full-time position with 8-hour shifts (Monday-Friday)
  • In-person at our Fort Walton Beach office
