Description

Provide individual and group therapy for teen girls in 8 bed residential group home. Annual Salary -  $60,000

 

Responsibilities

  1. Provide one hour of individual counseling and 2 hours of group counseling weekly, and family counseling as scheduled and/or assigned, documenting residents’ and families’ response to intervention.
  2. Complete assessments and screenings, resident’s initial individual treatment plan to include setting goals and objectives, transition planning, and safety plan within 30 days of intake.
  3. Complete the therapy/counseling, substance abuse/chemical dependency, permanency, screening tool, and discharge information components of the resident’s initial individual master treatment plan and MTP reviews, documenting discussion of the plan with the resident, case worker and family as appropriate.
  4. Complete the transition/discharge plan within 30 days after discharge.
  5. Develop appropriate aftercare plans with the resident, assessing the need and arranging for community agency support as appropriate and documenting these plans.
  6. Provide post-discharge support to each resident for 6 months by making contact with the resident’s next placement once a week for 4 weeks and then once a month for 6 months post-discharge.
  7. Complete letters of collaboration for the resident’s new provider and be available to consult the resident and their family no less than twice monthly for 6 months post-discharge.
  8. Complete treatment team progress notes for each resident weekly.
  9. Maintains professional licensure as applicable and regularly updates clinical skills.
  10. Coordinate services with Program Director and Case Manager.
  11. Participate in clinical consultation calls provided by DHS at minimum of two times per month.
  12. Assess and make referrals for medication and/or other mental health services as necessary.
  13. Monitor the behavior management system and make recommendations on the implementation of the system.
  14. Attend treatment team and transition planning meetings as scheduled.
  15. Intervene and assist staff implementing the behavior management system.
  16. Attend monthly administrative team meetings.
  17. Be a part of the administration on-call rotation.
  18. Work cooperatively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve quality resident care.
  19. Responsible for completing the required minimum number of training hours per year (24 hours/full-time; 12 hours/part-time).
  20. Other duties as required by program needs.

  7. Understands and applies child and adolescent development principles. Demonstrates appropriate trauma-informed care skills when clients experience a crisis.  Uses redirection and de-escalation techniques when dealing with stressful client interactions.
  8. Practices person-centered care and uses active listening skills. Expresses empathy and care when communicating with clients. Engages youth in asset building activities and encourages empowerment. Uses strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with youth and build solid relationships.
  9. Focus on youth, family, and community involvement in all aspects of the treatment process.
  10. Demonstrates ability to provide evidence-based counseling services as seen in progress notes and discussed in supervision.
  11. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills. Utilizes time management skills to complete progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments in a timely manner.
  12. Shows effective problem-solving skills and ability to resolve conflicts.
  13. Focuses on ethical services and ensures HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality policies are followed at all times.
  14. Identifies potential safety issues and takes measures to reduce risks and protect clients and staff.

This is a full time 40-hour per week salary position classified as exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Marie Detty Youth and Family Services is an at-will employer.  Employment is by mutual consent of the company and employee and either may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause or advance notice.  This job is contingent upon funding; however, availability of funding is not a guarantee of continued employment, nor does it imply any specific terms of employment.

Qualifications


Requirements

  1. Must be 21 years old.
  2. Master’s degree in Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, or Counseling. LPC, LMFT, LSCW, LBP or under supervision required. Experience working with families and children preferred.
  3. Demonstrate strong writing, verbal, and organizational skills.
  4. Must pass FBI background investigation.
  5. Must have a valid driver’s license and telephone.
  6. Ability to relate in a positive way with children and be of high moral and ethical character. 
  7. Must have strong assessment and interpersonal skills, flexible attitude and able to meet the demands of a heavy caseload. 
  8. Must be able to physically restrain residents if necessary (training is provided).
  9. Ability to communicate with and advocate on behalf of residents.
  10. Ability to maintain records and adhere to confidentiality. 
  11. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  12. Adhere to all regulations concerning confidentiality, judgment, tact, and diplomacy in contacts with persons served, parents/guardians, case workers, and local government agencies.
  13. Ability to assess situations, identify potential safety issues, and independently initiate safe interventions.
  14. Must be able to attend mandatory trainings and monthly staff meetings as scheduled. The Therapist is required to participate in START training (within 90 days) and pass the written and physical skills test of Managing Aggressive Behavior (within 30 days) of employment.  The Therapist is also required to become certified (within 90 days) in CPR/First Aid.
