Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $99,000.00 - $150,750.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor, investigate, and triage alerts from security tools such as SIEM, EDR, and firewall logs.
  • Assist in incident response activities including containment, eradication, and recovery.
  • Support vulnerability scanning and management efforts by interpreting scan results, validating findings, and tracking remediation.
  • Participate in investigations of suspicious activity, phishing attempts, malware infections, and policy violations.
  • Help manage and maintain security tools and platforms including endpoint protection, log collection, email security, and threat intelligence feeds.
  • Document incidents, findings, and response actions in a structured and repeatable format.
  • Collaborate with IT, network, and application teams to validate and resolve security events and vulnerabilities.
  • Stay current on emerging threats, exploits, and tactics to assist in proactive defense and threat hunting.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of security operations processes, runbooks, and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of IT experience, preferably in a technical support, systems administration, or networking role.
  • Strong conceptual knowledge of cybersecurity principles, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, ports and protocols), and common attack techniques.
  • Familiarity with at least some of the following: SIEM platforms, EDR solutions, IDS/IPS, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, or email security tools.
  • Understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and how to investigate basic security events on endpoints or servers.
  • Basic experience with log analysis and security alert triage.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Security certifications such as Security+, CySA+, GSEC, or similar (or working toward one).
  • Exposure to scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • Experience working in or alongside a Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF or MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Experience in a healthcare or other highly regulated environment.
