Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Academic and Student Affairs, the Assistant Director for Scholarships, Fellowships, and Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing activities and functions associated with the delivery of undergraduate scholarships; coordination of graduate fellowships including dean’s fellowships; and coordinates a variety of reports, donor communication pieces, stewardship plans, scholarship criteria, and other Donor Relations projects for the Development Office as required.
Position Salary Range:
$70,000 - $85,000 per year; DOE.
Essential Duties:
Supervises and coordinates the duties and responsibilities of a fulltime Specialist
Under general supervision, organizes and coordinates activities and functions associated with the delivery of undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships
Coordination and financial oversight of the Fulton Schools of Engineering’s portfolio of privately funded endowed and annual scholarship and fellowship accounts
Provides direction and manages operational policy for the FSE Scholarship and Fellowship award process; including adhering to both federal and institutional award policies and adjusting process with changes or updates to guidance
Serves as FSE scholarship/fellowship liaison for cross-departmental partners/units [e.g. Financial Aid & Scholarship Services (FASS), Dean of Students Office/Student Advocacy & Assistance partners, ASU Foundation partners, Graduate Recruitment Team, Graduate College, Global Engagement Office, FSE Business offices.]
Serves as an internal liaison to FSE admissions and retention teams, individual schools, and development office to assess trends and recommend or implement strategic solutions and initiatives. This includes identifying solutions, data, and resources to support student recruitment, retention, and persistence in response to specific university campaigns or initiatives.
Supports the FSE development office with donor relations regarding stewardship and/or event/activities, scholarship administration, implementation of donor acknowledgement; and timely awarding of donor funds consistent with donor intent
Work with development colleagues to strategically build out, execute, and streamline annual engagement and fundraising initiatives for the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, including but not limited to: endowed and annual scholarships and fellowships.
Participate as a member of the ASU Foundation development team and serve as a resource to development colleagues regarding fundraising opportunities using data to assess feasibility of proposed gifts and/or make recommendations for criteria adjustment
Conduct annual assessment of awards to establish benchmarks and measurable goals
Integration of available technology with subject matter expertise for increased automation and process efficiency.
Provide support for and recommendation for student and parent escalations.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Senior Director
Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of a Master's degree in higher education or related area.
Demonstrated effective supervision experience
Experience in coordinating activities and functions associated with the delivery of undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships
Experience with creating, maintaining, and enhancing databases
Experience using student information computer systems (e.g., PeopleSoft)
Experience using the Distributed Scholarship Portal (DSP)Experience performing financial transactions and running reports in ASU Workday/Foundation Workday
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Experience in problem solving independently and as part of a group.
Experience with donor relations regarding stewardship and/or event/activities, scholarship administration, implementation of donor acknowledgement
Experience developing and maintaining effective professional working relationships.
Experience working with colleagues, volunteers and academic leaders to identify, cultivate and solicit annual, major and planned scholarship gifts
Experience with engagement and fundraising initiatives.
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills in public and interpersonal settings
Working Environment:
Activities include extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
