Job Description:

Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Co-Op in the Analytical Development Operations (Data) group located in Malvern, PA.

Research & Development Co-op Overview:

The Co-Op, Analytical Operations Data Science, would start by learning the basics of building an end-to-end automation lab for oncology drug products, specifically focusing on data automation. A focus will be placed on learning and supporting design and implementation of LIMS SOP digitization and supporting efforts related to data systems (assessment, selection, and development). The candidate will be an integral part of implementing a process that will be part of a global automation framework. Projects may be tailored to the candidate's experience and interests. 

Life as an R&D Co-op:

The R&D Co-op program provides each student with real-life hands-on experience, coaching and mentoring, networking opportunities, as well as the opportunity to meet people from various schools throughout the country. Each Co-op will be matched with a mentor and will focus on at least one focused project for the 6-month term.

The typical Co-op term is from Jan 2026 – June 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with team members to develop and implement the digitization of analytical test method procedures in laboratory information management system(s) (LIMS).
  • Support automation initiatives that align with candidates interests and business needs, focusing on short-term projects that are attainable for the 6-month term.
  • Assisting in the assessment, scope, and implementation of data automation systems to support E2E automation.
  • Providing status updates to stakeholders and effectively communicating project updates to team.

Qualifications

Required:

  • This is a 6-month position and would require the ideal candidate to be enrolled in a program that supports co-op opportunities.
  • The ideal candidate should be rising to Junior or Senior year pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cellular and/or Molecular Biology, Pharmacology. Immunology, Biochemistry, or other relevant scientific field.  Candidates pursuing a Master's degree in same subjects may be considered as well.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic work environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience or interest in software validation preferred
  • Experience with software development life cycle preferred
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in a GMP environment and experience with laboratory automation is preferred.
