What you will do:
- Underwrite and perform credit analysis on loan collateral across all major property types within private credit investments and loan pools.
- Determine deal and loan-level risk ratings, assist in identifying risk assets across the portfolio to monitor performance and provide periodic asset management updates. Create and edit financial models to determine base and bear case commercial real estate (CRE) asset valuations and perform sensitivity analysis.
- Help prepare investment committee and quarterly asset review presentation materials.
- Assist with modeling deal level loss expectations and loan pricing.
- Liaise with special servicers and other third parties to support asset management duties in assessing risk, reviewing business plans and making strategic recommendations.
- Track issuer/industry trends and macroeconomic events which could impact portfolio holdings.
- Will travel 5-10% domestically.
What you should have:
- College (BS/BA) degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
- 0-4 years of work experience in a CRE loan underwriting or credit focused role.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Excel-based financial modeling.
- Strong grasp of financial statement analysis, CRE debt, and valuation concepts.
- Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills: exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.
- Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Applicable knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Commercial Real Estate Credit Investing, Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) investing and/or asset management. Experience with all major commercial real estate (CRE) property types (i.e., Office, Retail, Multifamily, Hotel, Industrial, etc.) in markets across the country.
- Solid understanding of commercial real estate transactions and industry terms.
- In-depth knowledge of third-party market data platforms (e.g., Trepp, Intex, Costar, REIS, RCA, Bloomberg).
- Familiarity working with and analyzing real estate and securitization documents (e.g., appraisals, mortgages, prospectuses, asset summary reports).
