About the Role
As a member of our General Construction team at Z Modular in Killeen, TX , you will play a key role in supporting modular construction and manufacturing operations through hands-on work in assembly and installation. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a physically active environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in quality craftsmanship.
Job Description Summary
Under direct supervision, the General Construction Worker is responsible for using hand and power tools to assist in building modular units at production facilities (plant) and various construction sites (field). Duties include assembling, installing, and maintaining structures or components while adhering to safety guidelines.
What You’ll Do
Operates and maintains tools and equipment to perform tasks such as installation, assembly, and repair.
Installs and assembles components and fixtures according to project specifications, both in the plant and on construction sites.
Prepares surfaces and structures for finishing or additional work as needed.
Identifies and resolves basic issues encountered during production and construction processes.
Collaborates with team members to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality standards.
Follows detailed instructions and plans to complete tasks accurately.
Communicates progress, material needs, and issues to supervisors or management.
Manages time effectively to meet project goals and deadlines.
Promotes and follows safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policies.
Maintains consistent, full-time, predictable onsite attendance as an essential function of the role.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a manufacturing or construction environment, preferably with hands-on work in assembly or construction
Familiarity with hand and power tools, as well as mobile equipment
Experience with modular construction or prefabrication is a plus
Basic understanding of safety protocols in production or construction settings
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Commitment to safety awareness and adherence to construction safety rules
Eligible to work in the United States
Physical Abilities
Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push or pull loads of up to 50 pounds
Strong balance, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity
Ability to meet visual and auditory acuity requirements
Ability to stand for long periods
Work Environment
Work is conducted in a manufacturing plant with a controlled environment and at construction sites, involving exposure to machinery, weather conditions, noise, and dust. PPE including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and high-visibility vests will be provided and must be worn in designated areas.
