The Business Strategy and Improvement (BSI) Director is a strategic leadership role reporting to the Senior Director, Institutional Project Management.. The Director is responsible for leading a team that partners with divisions across the University to ensure systems and services are not only efficient and forward-thinking but also aligned with the University’s mission and goals.This position leads efforts to modernize systems, improve business processes, manage complex projects, and ensure that technology and operational investments are aligned with strategic goals. The Director plays a key role in driving efficiency, facilitating change, and promoting data-informed decision-making across Saint Joseph’s University.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the Business Strategy and Improvement team, providing direction and oversight for University-wide initiatives focused on modernization, process improvement, and strategic execution.
Serve as a consultative partner to division leaders, identifying opportunities to align functional needs with institutional goals.
Oversee the evaluation and optimization of administrative systems and business processes, ensuring a high return on the University’s investment.
Manage the planning and implementation of large-scale initiatives, applying standardized project and change management methodologies.
Promote the use of data and performance metrics to guide decisions, track outcomes, and ensure accountability for strategic investments.
Coordinate with University stakeholders to develop and maintain institutional key performance indicators (KPIs)
Support long-term system roadmapping by leading reviews of vendor products, internal system capabilities, and future institutional needs.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by engaging stakeholders in collaborative problem-solving and capacity-building.
Represent the Business Strategy and Improvement team in institutional governance processes and planning efforts.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in business analysis, project management, systems optimization, and organizational effectiveness.
Lead or participate in committees and task forces that focus on innovation, operational effectiveness and transformation.
Assist with professional development programming related to process improvement, systems evaluation, and strategic planning.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Organizational Development, or a related field.
At least 5 years of progressive experience in business analysis, project management, or operational leadership, with demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Strong track record of driving business process improvement and delivering organizational change.
Experience managing staff and working collaboratively across diverse departments.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong analytical skills and ability to define KPIs, measure outcomes, and make data-informed recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to lead both strategic planning and hands-on implementation.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience in higher education or mission-driven organizations.
Professional certifications such as PMP
Familiarity with enterprise systems commonly used in higher education (e.g., Workday, Slate, Banner).
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
May require extended time at a computer.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support project timelines or University events.
