Key Responsibilities
- Select appropriate pipe types, sizes, materials, and related equipment (supports, hangers, hydraulic cylinders) based on job specs.
- Inspect worksite to identify potential obstructions and plan work sequence accordingly.
- Cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand and machine tools (e.g., hacksaw, pipe cutter, torch, threading machine).
- Install pipe hangers, brackets, and support systems to secure pipe structures.
- Assemble and install various pipe types and fittings using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
- Fit and tack pipe in preparation for welding.
- Weld pipe supports to structural steel components.
- Install and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls.
- Test piping systems for leaks by pressurizing and observing gauges for irregularities.
- Observe production equipment to detect mechanical issues.
- Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Comply with all safety regulations, project rules, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Required: American Welding Society (AWS) Certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- SAP or Epicor ERP experience is a plus
- Ability to weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum with MIG, TIG, and other methods
- Capable of welding precision frames to tight tolerances with high-quality cosmetic finish
- Knowledge of welding symbols (AWS), blueprints, and weld maps
- Safe and proficient use of five-ton overhead cranes and rigging equipment
- Ability to tack up structures and use basic manual milling machines
- Proficient in reading and using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, etc.) for in-process inspections
- Strong understanding of setup, fitting, and metalworking techniques
- Must strictly follow safety procedures and company quality standards
