Your Impact
As Head of Safety, you will play a pivotal role in advancing one of Newmont’s core values—Safety—by driving strategic leadership across our global operations. You will champion our refreshed three-year Health, Safety and Security Strategy, launched in 2022, which focuses on employee engagement, vital behaviors, leadership coaching, field interactions, and proactive mitigation of safety and health risks. Your impact will span exploration, active operations, and legacy sites, embedding human performance principles and critical control verifications to build a resilient, safety-first culture. Through innovation, data-driven insights, and cross-functional collaboration, you will empower teams and leaders to act on risk, actively care, and apply knowledge to create an injury-free and illness-free workplace.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Design and implement standardized safety systems, policies, and tools
- Partner with senior leaders to embed safety into business planning and execution
- Mentor and develop safety professionals across global teams
- Lead investigations, audits, and assurance processes with transparency and rigor
- Collaborate across HR, Legal, Supply Chain, and IT to integrate safety into operations
- Represent Newmont in external forums, regulatory engagements, and industry networks
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
- Tertiary degree in science, engineering, or occupational health and safety
- Extensive leadership experience in safety across mining or heavy industry
- Strong knowledge of global safety legislation, risk management, and ESG integration
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills to drive enterprise-wide safety outcomes
- Effective cross-cultural communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Fluency in English; Spanish, French, or Dutch is highly desirable
- Willingness to travel internationally and work across diverse geographies

The salary range offered for this role is USD $187,565 - $267,950.00. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
