Description

 

UCFS is looking for candidates who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others! We are currently seeking a full-time (40hr) HIM Medical Records Manager responsible for the administrative functions related to the electronic filing of patient documents, medical records, and the integrity of electronic health records. The Health Information Manager ensures the timely and accurate release of information to people and agencies according to HIPAA regulations through the adherence to UCFS policies and procedures.

     

Position is 100% in-person/on-site at Norwich Health Center.  


Responsibilities-

  • Manages and coordinates all health record document transactions by monitoring and assisting with use of electronic document management software and filing, receiving and releasing documents.
  • Processes request for information following HIPAA requirements; reviews requests for release of information for completeness; requests and retrieves health record; files release for information and documentation of completed      release in the health record.
  • Provides supervision and training to HIM Associates/Medical Records staff. This includes but is not limited to evaluation, performance improvement, and time and attendance management. 
  • Provides excellence in customer service to all internal and external customers; works with clients and UCFS staff to ensure accurately completed requests for information; returns phone messages; written and verbal communication is diplomatic, empathetic, courteous and effective.
  • Manages the Release of Information (ROI) Work queue within the EMR including documenting receipt of ROI and updating the status/progress of the ROI; Provides oversight and supervision of all information & records management for the department.
  • Processes subpoenas for health records and ensures delivery of records in a timely manner.
  • Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures related to medical records management, privacy and security.

Requirements
  • Associates degree in related field plus a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare administration, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Candidate must have supervisory experience 
  • Knowledge of Epic or OCHIN electronic health record is a plus. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management in a healthcare setting specifically in patient access, registration, insurance verification.
  • Ability to write and run various workbench reports and dashboards to monitor activity and identify trends.
  • Familiarity with software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and email
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership presence and highly motivated team member who easily cultivates effective relationships with senior executives and staff both inside and outside of the organization.
