A Kitchen Production Assistant plays an integral role in supporting the day-to-day food operations of the center. Reporting to the Centre Director and Kitchen Lead, this position assists with food preparation, baking, and kitchen maintenance, all while upholding the highest standards of food safety and quality in alignment with Inspire Early Education’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Kitchen Lead with the preparation and cooking of daily meals.
- Ensure safe food storage, disposal, and accurate completion of temperature logs.
- Prepare meals and snacks for children with special dietary requirements, ensuring all dietary needs are met.
- Follow food portioning guidelines and maintain proper inventory levels.
- Prepare a variety of baked goods, including loaves and snack items.
- Comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, including maintaining current food safety certifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules (including dishwashing duties).
- Occasionally prepare meals for field trips, school-age programs, or community events.
- Assist with receiving and organizing food supply orders from SYSCO
- Perform additional duties as assigned, based on the evolving needs of the center.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid ServSafe Managerial & allergen awareness certification
- Experience working in a childcare or daycare kitchen environment is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Require a clean background check.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
