About the Role:
The Material Handler I plays a critical role in the durable goods manufacturing process by ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials within the facility. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting production teams by delivering the right materials at the right time. The role requires close collaboration with warehouse staff, production operators, and logistics personnel to optimize workflow and minimize downtime. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to maintain a safe and organized work environment. Ultimately, the Material Handler I contributes to the overall productivity and quality of the manufacturing operation by managing materials effectively from receipt through to production use.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math and reading skills to understand work orders and inventory documentation.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment safely, with forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling machinery.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or warehouse management systems.
- Basic knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in material handling.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials and supplies for quality and accuracy.
- Store materials in designated locations and maintain organized inventory systems.
- Pick and stage materials for production according to work orders and schedules.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory levels using computerized systems.
- Assist in cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate material flow and resolve issues.
