Position Overview

The Senior Director of Infrastructure Services oversees the planning, implementation, and management of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, and cloud ser vices. Typical technologies supported include AD/Messaging/Collaboration, AV, Database Administration, DC/Cloud, Print, Server Administration, Telephony. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of infrastructure services to support business operations and strategic initiatives.

The Senior Director of Infrastructure plays a crucial role in managing and enhancing the organization’s IT infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, and scalability. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic vision to effectively lead infrastructure initiatives and support business operations.  

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Planning and Strategy:

  • Infrastructure Roadmap- Develop and execute strategic plans for IT infrastructure, aligning with business goals and IT strategy.
  • Capacity Planning- Forecast future infrastructure needs and plan for capacity expansion to support organizational growth and evolving technology requirements. 
  • Technology Evaluation- Evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Infrastructure Implementation and Management:

  • Project Management- Lead and manage infrastructure implementation projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meeting stakeholder expectations.
  • AD/Messaging/Collaboration- AD design, configuration, implementation, and support. Support for all messaging and collaboration platforms.
  • Audio Video- Support for all audio/video technologies deployed across the enterprise.
  • Database Administration- Includes supporting all legacy database deployments including MS SQL Server, MS Access, and other databases required for the various applications. 
  • Print- Includes support for print servers and services, both on-perm and cloud-based, and all multifunction devices (MFDs).
  • Telephony_ Support for all voice services currently deployed.
  • Server and Storage Management- Manage server and storage infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Cloud Services- Evaluate, implement, and manage cloud services and solutions (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) to support business applications and operations.

Security Compliance:

  • Security Management- Work with the Security & Compliance Manager to implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls to protect infrastructure from security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Compliance- Ensure infrastructure services comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to data protection and privacy. 

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

  • Disaster Recovery/ Business Continuity Planning- Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) plans for critical infrastructure services. 
  • Testing and Maintenance- Conduct regular testing, drills, and maintenance of DR/BC plans to ensure readiness and minimize downtime during disruptions. 

Vendor Management and Budget Oversight:

  • Vendor Relationships- Manage relationships with infrastructure vendors and service providers, ensuring delivery of contracted services and adherence to SLAs.
  • Budget Management- Develop and manage the infrastructure services budget, monitoring expenditures and optimizing resource allocation.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Team Management- Lead and manage an infrastructure team, providing direction, guidance, and support.
  • Talent Development- Foster a culture of learning and professional development within the team, including training and skills enhancement.
  • Performance Management- Work with senior leadership to conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to drive continuous improvement.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration- Collaborate with IT teams, business units, and senior management to align infrastructure services with organizational objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement- Communicate infrastructure strategy, initiatives, and performance to stakeholders, fostering transparency and alignment. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with 3-5 years in a leadership or management role overseeing complex infrastructure environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of network architecture, server technologies, storage solutions, cloud services, and infrastructure security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications.
  • Experience with SAP systems.

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network infrastructure (routers, switches), server platforms (Windows, Linux), storage solutions (SAN, NAS), and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team towards achieving infrastructure goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose infrastructures issues and develop effective solutions. 

Working Conditions

  • Comfortable working in an office environment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, step, and reach above the head and below the knees to file and retrieve data.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift and move large amounts of paperwork.
