Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the High School Principal, the Integrated Science Teacher will develop students’ skills and competencies across science disciplines—including biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and related fields. The teacher will foster scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and an understanding of how science connects to everyday life.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach and design engaging lessons in integrated science disciplines aligned with district curriculum and the IB framework.
- Promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Create a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning.
- Design labs, experiments, and projects that demonstrate science in real-world contexts.
- Provide ongoing assessment and adapt instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including students with special needs.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues; encourage parent involvement.
- Maintain and oversee equipment and supplies, ensuring proper use and care.
- Participate in professional learning, faculty meetings, and district committees.
Qualifications - Certification/License: Valid Ohio Department of Education Science teaching license (Integrated Science or appropriate field).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or related science.
- Experience: Successful prior teaching experience at the high school level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of current instructional strategies, differentiated learning, and effective classroom management.
- Ability to integrate technology and data analysis into instruction.
