Eurofins Environment Testing Australia is an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 300 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater. 

Job Description:
  • Full-time, permanent position based in Melbourne, Australia, across Eurofins Environment Testing sites.
  • Senior leadership role managing laboratory operations across Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and the Northern Territory.
  • Accountable for performance management, budgets, compliance, and business strategy.
  • Provide direction and leadership to Business Unit Managers while driving operational excellence and innovation.
  • Competitive remuneration package, commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Local travel will be required, with additional interstate and occasional international travel.

As Eurofins continues to grow as a leader in environmental testing, we are seeking a General Manager to drive operational excellence and strategic direction across our laboratories in Australia. This role offers a unique opportunity to oversee national operations, lead Business Unit Managers, and shape the future of our services while ensuring compliance, quality, and innovation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing performance, budgets, health and safety initiatives, and developing strategies that support Eurofins’ mission of delivering world-class environmental testing services.

Key accountabilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage overall performance of Eurofins Environment Testing Australia laboratories across Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and the Northern Territory.
  • Supervise and coordinate Business Unit Managers across the stipulated regions.
  • Oversee staffing requirements, including hiring, casual workforce, and overtime management.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets and project budgets.
  • Act as OHS representative, supporting workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Lead the development of strategies and policies to achieve Eurofins’ future goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Eurofins Quality Systems, Code of Ethics, and relevant legislation.
  • Report directly to the National Operations Manager.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will obtain the following:

  • A degree in Management, Marketing, Finance, Science, or another relevant discipline.
  • Extensive industry experience is essential, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management role.
Additional Information:
  • Current driver’s licence required; local, interstate, and occasional international travel will be part of the role.
  • Annual leave and conditions as per local legislation and Eurofins policies.
