Process & Product Quality Monitoring
Monitor SMS operations (melting, refining, continuous casting) and Mills operations (rolling, finishing) to ensure adherence to metallurgical and dimensional quality standards.
Conduct heat-wise sampling and testing (chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical) as per specifications.
Inspection & Testing
Carry out inspection of billets, blooms, slabs, and rolled products for surface/internal defects.
Perform destructive and non-destructive testing (macro-etch, UT, MPI, hardness, tensile, impact) as per QAP/ITP.
Coordinate with labs for spectrometer/OES analysis, C & S testing, and microstructural evaluation.
Shift Quality Assurance
Maintain heat-wise and batch-wise traceability of materials through accurate documentation.
Ensure compliance to customer-specific and internal quality requirements during production.
Support in troubleshooting quality deviations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to ISO, BIS, and other relevant quality management standards.
Prepare and maintain inspection records, test reports, and Mill Test Certificates (MTCs).
Support internal and external audits related to product quality.
Cross-functional Coordination
Liaise with SMS/Mills operations, refractory, maintenance, and production teams to address quality issues in real time.
Escalate deviations beyond permissible limits to shift in-charge for necessary intervention.
Key Skills & Competencies
