Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking dedicated Safety Support to champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a wide range of safety initiatives, including data analysis, risk assessments, and training. This role is crucial for identifying hazards, mitigating risks, and promoting continuous improvement in our workplace safety programs.

  • Data analysis: Collect and analyze safety data, such as incident reports, near-miss data, and safety observations, to identify trends and patterns, and help develop relevant KPIs. Use statistical tools and techniques to interpret the data and generate reports for management.
  • Risk assessments: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and evaluate the level of risk associated with specific tasks, equipment, or work processes. Develop recommendations for risk mitigation strategies and communicate these findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Safety program evaluation: Assist in the evaluation of existing safety programs and initiatives. Participate in safety audits, inspections, and assessments to assess compliance and effectiveness. Provide recommendations for improvement based on identified gaps or best practices.
  • Incident investigation support: Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses by collecting and analyzing relevant data. Contribute to the development of corrective actions and identify root causes and preventive measures.
  • Providing safety training: Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes safety training for new hire orientation, ongoing re-training, compliance training, and First Aid, and CPR AED training.
  • Maintaining safety records and documentation: Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training programs, and other safety-related documentation to ensure compliance and enable data analysis for continuous improvement. Data Entry as needed.
  • Participating in safety committee meetings: Lead and attend safety committee meetings and contribute to discussions and initiatives aimed at improving safety culture and addressing safety concerns within the organization.
  • Inspect field locations, facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

Requirements:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, able to communicate fluently in both languages.
  • Valid CA driver's license with the ability to drive and operate a company vehicle
  • Travel: 25% – 30% within a 75-mile radius
  • 1 Year of experience in Safety or equivalent experience

Qualifications:

  • CPR & First Aid trained with current certification or able to attain within 3 months
  • Safety Experience in the Agricultural industry 
  • MS Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Fingerprint rolling certification (preferred)
  • AG Safety Certificate - AG Safe (preferred)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (preferred)
  • Train the Trainer: CPR & First Aid or able to attain within 6 months
  • Occupational Safety and Risk Management Certification (preferred)

Education:

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A College Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions: 

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone
  • Must be able to occasionally sit for short and long periods traveling from site to site
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and get in/out of the vehicle occasionally throughout the day
  • Must be able to work occasionally outside in all weather conditions
