We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commodity Strategy Director to lead our commodity management efforts. As a senior leader, you will partner with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Supplier Quality, and Finance to ensure all stakeholders are integrated into the commodity strategy and supplier sourcing process.
Position Summary:
This role is critical in developing and executing long-term sourcing strategies that align with business goals, optimize efficiency, reduce costs, manage risks, and yield exceptional customer satisfaction across key direct and indirect materials and services commodities used in our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead commodity strategy teams for key commodities (Integrated Equipment, Installation Services, Fabrication / Machining make v buy, Controls, Mechanicals, and Indirect Materials and Services).
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product Development as stakeholders and members of commodity strategy teams and to incorporate design-for-cost and design-for-supply considerations into the commodity strategies.
- Manage (dotted line) and mentor a team of buyers, with emphasis in strategic thinking, sourcing optimization, and negotiation skills. Drive a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Lead buyers in planning and execution of negotiations for long-term supply and pricing agreements with strategic suppliers to reduce cost and ensure supply capacity and quality standards are met.
- Ensure the timely and accurate communication of commodity cost trends and risks to business leaders and key stakeholders.
- Analyze market trends, supply/demand dynamics, geopolitical risks, and macroeconomic indicators to inform sourcing strategies.
- Support the transition of tactical sourcing activities to strategic sourcing strategies, leveraging the scale of the entire Paslin enterprise.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through detailed supplier, spend, and lever opportunity analysis.
- Drive effective metrics and data reporting to support the achievement of continuous cost improvement targets
- Deliver a cost-effective, rationalized, and effective supply base yielding a sustainable competitive business advantage. Evaluate and segment suppliers based on performance, capabilities, quality, cost, and risk to deliver a robust and sustainable supply base.
- Build strong partnerships with key suppliers to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and risk mitigation. Lead supplier business and performance reviews, scorecards, and corrective action processes.
- Partner with Operations and Quality to ensure smooth integration of new suppliers or materials.
- Develop risk assessment frameworks to proactively identify and address potential supply chain disruptions. Incorporate such assessments into commodity strategy documents.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of strategic sourcing, commodity management, or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of developing and executing commodity strategies.
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing materials and their supply chains.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and financial acumen.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement analytics tools.
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office and a manufacturing site environment.
Work type & Expected hours of work: Regularly works on-site at local Paslin locations. Work schedules are flexible around core business hours of 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday. This position is for regular, full-time work and may require coming in early, working late, or working on weekends to meet the needs of the business.

Travel: This position requires occasional local travel between Paslin sites. May require visits to vendors or customer sites.
