TITLE: Box Office Staff
REPORTS TO: Booking Manager/Ballroom Management/General Management
FLSA CLASS: Hourly Non-Exempt
The job duties below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job classification. Description of the Position:
The Box Office Clerk is responsible for providing ticket service and general information to customers. The duties for this position include but are not limited to interacting in a positive manner with customers who approach the box office in person as well as those who contact them by phone, handling ticket sales, which includes using a cash register and credit card machine on a frequent basis. The Box Office Clerk also assists the Spanish Ballroom and Elks Temple Administrative Staff with basic functions and special projects, such as distributing event posters. Occasionally, the Box Office staff may be asked to help out in the pub. Being in the box office can be hard physical work and requires mental agility and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. Box office staff must also have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Each employee will be expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to Management. All McMenamin employees will also be expected to keep current on all company events, history, and products. Other duties as assigned by the Manager on duty.
Requirements of the Job:
- Strong computer skills required
- Previous customer service experience
- Previous cash handling experience
- Thorough knowledge of Spanish Ballroom operations and weekly events
- Obtain and maintain current food handlers and MAST alcohol permit
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Effectively assist customers with ticket information and sales
- Must have a value for diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds
- Answer incoming phone calls and phone usage
- Remain calm and cheerful in a high volume, deadline-oriented environment
- Communicate clearly & be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, vendors, and customers
- Accurately work numbers and handle and count money
- Work for long periods on feet including walking, stair climbing
- Perform repetitive movements such as pushing, pulling, bending, some stooping and twisting
- Perform fine hand manipulation including handling small and large objects, including phone, computer keyboard usage and writing.
