INTERNAL POSTING ONLY
Incumbents in this position are responsible for managing capital projects and ensuring projects are completed on time and on schedule.  This position is assigned to pay grade R33.

Position Duties

  • Manages consulting engineers, sub-consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors in the design and construction of development projects.
  • Provides engineering technical support to project consultants regarding project design, scheduling, construction methods, and information related to facility and equipment needs.
  • Provides project information to CFPUA Board as required.
  • Administers contracts to include reviewing and issuing correspondence, transmittals, and contract payments and amendments.
  • Communicates with consultants and contractors regarding problems that occur during the design and construction of development projects to include scheduling, the quality of construction and fees. 
  • Calculates fees associated with connection to CFPUA facilities.
  • Provides supporting data and expertise for communication and public relations activities related to the groundbreaking, construction, and dedication of CFPUA development projects.
  • Ensures field construction adheres to safety and environmental requirements and construction industry best practices.
  • Tracks project progression and keeps internal staff informed of progress.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations on the designs prepared by consultants to ensure compliance with project specifications, CFPUA Master Plan, design intent, environmental permits, and safety requirements.
  • Oversees non-development projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager to include chairing committees and participating on review groups.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management or related course study.
  • Two (2) years of professional engineering or project management work experience in a role such as a project manager, engineering manager or related work field.
  • Associates degree and four (4) years of experience in Water and Wastewater industry or related field work in lieu of bachelor's degree. 
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license.
