Job Summary
We currently have both full time and part time positions open in the bakery. The Bakery Specialist is responsible for packaging, stocking, and displaying bakery products, maintaining cleanliness in the bakery area, and ensuring the organization of the store’s bakery section. They promote Mackenthun’s Exceptional Experience by offering friendly, helpful customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Handling:
- Slice and package bakery products efficiently.
- Ensure displays are attractive and fully stocked, rotating for freshness.
- Finish baked products, such as icing cookies and donuts.
- Minimize losses due to improper handling, storage, or spoilage.
- Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers with product selection, recommendations, and inquiries.
- Take customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Address complaints and resolve issues promptly.
- Cleanliness & Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized bakery area, following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Clean surfaces, shelves, and display cases regularly.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations for food handling and hygiene.
- Assist Bakery Staff:
- Support bakers with ingredient prep and packaging.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock storage.
- Help unload deliveries and ensure proper ingredient storage.

Requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; prior bakery experience is a plus.
- MN Certified Food Protection Manager license optional (can be obtained after hire).
- Strong math and customer service skills.
- Dependable, team-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and operate a pallet jack.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Constant standing, walking, and movement.
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
- Exposure to machine noise, temperature variations, and cleaning chemicals.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
