The University of Nevada – Reno (UNR) will be implementing a new modern cloud-based application for Financial Aid. UNR will be implementing Oracle Student Financial Aid, a leading business application from Oracle Corporation. The project will be initiated in September 2025 with a phased deployment planned to be completed over an 18-month period. UNR has hired Sierra-Cedar, a consulting implementation partner, to assist with the software deployment.
As a part-time hourly Student Financial Aid (SFA) Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute right away, working in collaboration with experienced consultants and UNR staff in a dynamic team environment. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in Student Services (Admissions, Financial Aid, Enrollment Services, Student Accounting Services, etc.), preferably with related systems and applications.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· A minimum 2.75 GPA
· Expected graduation date in 2026 or 2027
· Excellent technical aptitude
· Passion for customer service
· Professional appearance with strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to listen actively, assimilate different points of view, break down complex issues, and communicate them to others in a straightforward manner
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (excellent Excel skills, Word, PowerPoint, Visio a plus)
- Coursework or prior work experience utilizing Java coding language and SQL preferred
· Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to think creatively
· Ability to actively seek out new knowledge independently and apply that information to complex issues
· Coursework or prior work experience in analytical or critical thinking-intensive areas
· Ability to complete tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Participate in Cloud training opportunities
· Attend project team meetings
· Gather and analyze institutional business needs and software requirements
· Participate in business process re-engineering, leading practices, and customization conversations
· Develop/configure an application based on documented requirements
· Write and review functional design documents, business process guides, training manuals, and other necessary documentation
· Assist with system testing and user acceptance testing
