We're looking for a high energy HR Generalist and Payroll Specialist who already has some HR and payroll experience and is eager to grow in their career. Because our team is small and collaborative, you'll get great hands-on experience across the full HR spectrum. Responsibilities
- Payroll
- Process Payroll
- Process and track garnishment and other court orders
- Ensure tax withholdings are accurate
- Register BGL with new states as we expand
- Benefits
- Manage all aspects of BGL benefits program, including annual enrollment, new enrollments, qualified life event changes, eligibility to vendors, pricing, census reporting, payroll deductions, audit and maintenance of data and monthly benefit invoices
- Manage BGL’s 401k program including employee enrollment and education, audits, and vendor management
- Manage workers’ compensation insurance set up in new states as we expand
- HRIS
- Responsible for data integrity in the HRIS system, Paycor, and the performance review system, Via People
- Responsible for setting up new vacation plans within the system, maintaining the onboarding process within Paycor, uploading policies for acknowledgment and pulling reports as needed
- Onboarding
- Partnering with our internal training committee to create a two-week training program including agenda, content and materials
- Partnering with marketing to finalize program materials
- Participating in the venue selection process
- Onboard new employees including I9 completion, benefit enrollment, payroll set up, harassment training, and orientation.
- Partner with VP of HR to onboard approximately 20 recent graduates every summer. This entails:
- People Practices
- Assist in implementing HR programs such as performance reviews, engagement surveys, employee recognition initiatives, and in-office events
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies, payroll and benefits providing clear and timely assistance.
- Explain leave options to employees including FMLA, short term disability, parental and leave under the Americans with Disabilities Act
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of human resources experience in a professional services environment
- Minimum of 3 years of experience processing a multi-state payroll ideally with Paycor, but prefer 5 years of payroll processing experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field
- Experience processing payroll
- Strong working knowledge of core HR functions including onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and HR operations
- Experience maintaining an HRIS system such Paycor, Paychex, UKG, ADP
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you know how to build trust at all levels
- A proactive, team-first mindset and a passion for solving problems and making things better
- Resourcefulness
- High attention to detail and organization
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment law; multi-state knowledge is a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to travel 15%
