To begin approximately 10/25 pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend, on- and off-campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- *Under general supervision of Leeward CC - Waianae Moku campus Coordinator and working in collaboration with Waianae Moku campus staff, coordinate new student cohort programs and orientations for the Leeward CC - Waianae Moku campus for the special populations, including but not limited to at-risk youth, individuals transitioning from incarceration, persons in recovery from substance use, homeless individuals, veterans, and foster care alumni.
- *Provide case management and individualized support to program participants to help them overcome barriers to education, employment, and personal development.
- *Using collaborative activities, support persistence, graduation and transfer rates in cohort students.
- *Develop outreach strategies to engage underserved communities and connect them with educational, training, and support services.
- *Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a Professional Learning Community of cross-disciplinary group of instructors, staff and community members to create culturally responsive and inclusive programming.
- *Coordinate and deliver weekly seminars; plan and implement Summer Orientation.
- *Working in collaboration with academic support staff, hire and supervise student Peer Mentors in planning and delivering cohort activities.
- *Plan, coordinate, and implement an effective leadership program for Peer Mentors.
- *Prepare training for faculty, staff, and community partners on best practices for serving special populations.
- *Participate in professional development to enhance program effectiveness and maintain cultural competency.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, social service agencies, correctional facilities, workforce boards, and advocacy groups.
- *Facilitate referrals to campus and community resources, including counseling, housing assistance, childcare, transportation, and financial aid.
- *Represent the program at community events, resource fairs, and organizational meetings to raise awareness and strengthen referral networks.
- *Develop program materials, marketing content, and outreach communications.
- *Plan and communicate with cohort members regarding upcoming events and program requirements.
- *Follow up with cohort members for the purpose of program evaluation at the end of each semester (surveys, focus groups) and academic school year.
- *Monitor participant progress and follow up regularly to ensure continued engagement and success.
- *Track, analyze, and report on program outcomes, participation rates, and performance metrics.
- *Work duties will include driving to various locations on the island, evening and weekend hours.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling and Guidance, College Student Personnel Services, Liberal Arts, or related fields and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for academic counseling; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in student recruitment retention programs in higher education as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing and Excel software.
- For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Knowledge of community college and university programs.
- Knowledge of college and career pathways (secondary to postsecondary) for career, technical, and higher education.
- Ability to travel independently in a timely and efficient manner to various locations on Oahu.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling and Guidance, College Student Personnel Services, Liberal Arts, or related field.
- Successful experience working with economically disadvantaged youth, individuals in drug treatment programs or formerly incarcerated, and/or adults in a community or educational setting.
- Experience in working with incarcerated and/or formerly incarcerated individuals in a supportive environment.
