Job Summary: Extruder Technician will be responsible for the process design, operation, and implementation for Plastics Manufacturing. Able to improve industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for timely startups and shutdowns to maximize productivity and reduce unnecessary downtime.
- Provide extrusions in a timely manner as directed by the department supervisor to ensure production schedules are met.
- Change dies on extruding machines according to production line change
- Manage raw extrusion materials in a way that ensures traceability and prevents contamination.
- Ensure line speed and part quality remain consistent and that output is delivered safely, productively, and on time.
- Participate/lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Troubleshoot and make minor adjustments to extrusion line.
- Must be able to work well with others to train operators to perform their duties.
- Perform routine maintenance on all extrusion equipment.
- Responsible for performing all aspects of the job in a safe manner and observing all safety regulations.
- Conduct periodic safety checks and involves the team in identifying and resolving unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for cleanliness and housekeeping of the production machinery and surrounding area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Ability to communicate information to the operators.
- Available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- AAS degree or related job experience , in a technical discipline; mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Strong multi-tasking skills. Completes several concurrent tasks in an efficient and accurate manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed indoors in a manufacturing setting with regular exposure to cold, heat, noise, and moving machines and equipment. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs, push and pull up to 40 lbs, lift, stand and carry consistently, have proper hearing, vision and speech capabilities. Can wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Hearing protection, safety glasses, goggles, or shields).
