Position Overview

The Operational Procedures Writer provides primary assistance to Deposit Services and Deposit Administration. Duties include review of publications; updating and reformatting existing online and paper publications to conform to current documentation standards while ensuring that all assigned publications are free of typographical, format and layout errors; and managing multiple editing assignments to meet target dates. This position also assists management by providing operational support, primarily to the Operations Division and secondary to other divisions. 


Essential Job Functions

  • Utilizes technical writing knowledge to write and maintain new/revised procedures and other technical documentation, including online help
  • Develop, write, and edit clear and concise procedures, manuals and guides
  • Partner with departmental resources, project teams, appropriate business lines, and/or vendor resources for documenting, updating, and maintaining operational procedures and forms, drafting communications, and managing intranet content.
  • Be responsible for internal governance of written procedures, including change management, version controls, tracked changes, and collaborative acceptance
  • Provide adequate and timely execution of assigned communications and deliverables.
  • Assist in organizing records, archiving and maintaining historical files for documents
  • Enter, update, and edit controlled documents.
  • Work with department subject matter experts to inventory, research, analyze, and document internal processes, considering all applicable laws and regulations to ensure accuracy of procedures.
  • Convert and consolidate narrative text into succinct procedures adhering to writing standards.
  • Coordinate with Marketing internal style guides, ensuring designated documents meet Bank standards.
  • Proactively recommend opportunities for improvement within published documents or Bank processes for ways to increase operational efficiencies for the bank or team.
  • Finalize and publish working documents (SOPs, Forms) for use by production teams.
  • Deliver documentation that is accurate, complete, and easily accessible to all Bank employees.
  • Ensure placement of new and revised policies on the bank’s policy and procedure system.
  • Complete all required regulatory training as assigned within deadlines established 
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in compliance with applicable regulations, bank policies and procedures, adherence to Bank security policies, and confidentiality of Bank records and customer information. 
  • Performs all essential duties in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as Bank policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of banking experience
  • Proven experience as a technical writer or procedures writer, preferably in banking
  • Strong understanding of document management systems and technical writing tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand text
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to bank fraud and transaction disputes
  • Strong motivational skills

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is in regular communication, is required to use various tools or objects, and have the mobility to move about the office. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that regularly requires 40 hours per week.


Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
