MANTECH is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Design Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Underway Replenishment (UNREP) Port Hueneme (PHD) Division. This position is on-site based in Port Hueneme, CA.The Design Engineers supports efforts in maintaining, improving, modifying, and upgrading existing UNREP station equipment and designing new UNREP station equipment. As a Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to system design, prototyping, test and evaluation, and fielding of UNREP equipment maintain critical at sea logistics capabilities for the US Navy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Become a subject matter expert in UNREP procedures and equipment operationBecome familiar with the repair, maintainability, and obsolescence of the equipmentUse programs such as AutoCAD and Solidworks to design, draft, and/or modify designs of equipmentCollaborate with subcontractors, senior engineers, and senior technicians in design projectsComplete reviews of engineering drawings and schematics for accuracy and completenessComplete engineering calculations related to loads and forces applied during UNREP system operation at seaParticipate in Engineering Change Proposal teams to find solutions for in use systems and propose changes to documentation as neededDevelop and/or review Design Specifications for various UNREP systems and associated logistics requirementsComplete ship checks of UNREP sites for future installationsEnsure compliance with all NAVSEA and shipyard installation requirementsTravel is less 25%.  Travel could require being underway on a ship for testing and trainingMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s level degree in an engineering discipline2+ years of experience in engineering projects or services1+ years of hands-on experience in the design, evaluation, or maintenance of control systems and/or machinery. Additional consideration for experience programming/commissioning electronic systems1+ years of SolidWorks and other equivalent design software experiencePreferred Qualifications:Experience with UNREP or other Navy machinery.  Experience in industrial marine environment can be substituted for Navy experienceFamiliarity with Shipyard and NAVSEA installation requirements and supporting documentationProficiency with reading and interpreting ship schematics, wiring lists, and technical manualsConfidence working in multiple locations (i.e. office, shop, ship, etc.)Experience working with Control Systems and/or Variable Frequency DrivesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Solidworks, and AutoCADClearance Requirements:Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.Physical Requirements:Ability to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs, planks, or galleyways and work in confined spaces.Ability to operate standard office equipment (computers, printers, etc.).Capability to go onboard ships and work in an industrial and operational environment.Ability to climb ladders and go through scuttles onboard vessels.Occasional movement around the office to access files and equipment.
