Transfer Pricing Manager

 

Purpose of the Role:

 

This is a great opportunity to join the finance team on a two year fixed term contract as the British Councils Transfer Pricing Manager. 

 

The Transfer Pricing Manager will work with external advisers, global network colleagues and head office specialists in legal, finance systems, treasury, and governance on the taxation aspects of country-specific projects to design and implement new solutions as required.
You will represent the unit in the global finance community, ensuring business needs are understood by all, learning and expertise is shared, and global standards and initiatives are championed and complied with.


The support needs of the British Council are changing continually as its business model and distribution channels becomes more complicated and onerous in terms of compliance. This will require people who embrace change and seek continual service improvements and personal career development aspirations. 

You will provide specialist transfer pricing advice on overseas tax matters for the British Council’s business units and global finance teams ensuring the organisation manages tax risks, adopts appropriate corporate status solutions overseas and responds to legislative developments in the key jurisdictions in which it operates.


You will provide global transfer pricing analysis, reports and insights to senior stakeholders and business partners to enable effective decision making.

 Accountabilities: 

 

The Transfer Pricing Manager will work with external advisers, global network colleagues and head office specialists in legal, finance systems, treasury, and governance on the taxation aspects of country-specific projects to design and implement new solutions as required.
You will represent the unit in the global finance community, ensuring business needs are understood by all, learning and expertise is shared, and global standards and initiatives are championed and complied with.


The support needs of the British Council are changing continually as its business model and distribution channels becomes more complicated and onerous in terms of compliance.

 

Along with this, you will also:


•    Monitor the development of UK and oversees Transfer Pricing regulatory updates and conduct impact assessment on the British Council and its affiliates where necessary. Deliver technical support on any Transfer Pricing queries, audits, or controversies.


•    Provide expert transfer pricing tax advice and clear explanations for the benefit of regional/In country finance colleagues and Strategic Business Units leads in relation to tax structuring of intra-group transactions, new business opportunities and vendor/ customer contracts.


•    Build and maintain Global Transfer Pricing documentation including Transfer Pricing Master File, functional interviews and functional analysis for the British Council and provide support to country and regional finance colleagues in preparing Transfer Pricing local files for British Council affiliates in accordance with local regulatory requirements.


•    Ensure the organisation's compliance on Transfer Pricing filing requirements in the UK and overseas such as Country-by-country reporting, related party transaction disclosure filing, Transfer Pricing documentation report filing.


•    Work with regional/In-country finance colleagues and subsidiaries accountants, to implement appropriate transfer pricing charging arrangements for intra-group services involving overseas entities to support the British Council’s overall direct tax strategy to ensure compliance with the UK and Global tax law / obligations whilst minimising direct tax liability and optimising cash-flow.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

You must be CTA, ADIT or ATT qualified with Chartered Institute of Taxation or equivalent professional body.
A desirable qualification is: Membership/fellowship of one of the following:


•    Institute of Chartered Accountants (ACA)
•    Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
•    Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA

  • Direct transfer pricing knowledge and understanding of OECD transfer pricing concepts and requirements.
  • Familiarity with international tax concepts and principles (e.g., permanent establishment, double tax agreements and application of withholding taxes).
  • Experience of preparing transfer pricing documentation and/or managing fiscal audits.
  • Ability to precisely frame advisers’ terms of reference, interpret external advice and apply complex legislation to specific problems and circumstances.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills. ability to explain complex technical issues to lay colleagues in clear and commercial way.
  • Building relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Flexibility, independence, and initiative to perform successfully in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively and prioritise in a busy global facing role.

 

Important Information:

Contract type: Two Year Fixed Term Contract. 
Contract Hours: Full time - 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 
Pay band: SMP-S
Salary: £55,699 - £68,649. (Plus an additional £3,300 per annum London Market Allowance if you are based in the London area only). 
For candidates with exceptional skills, knowledge and experience (specific to the role) the British Council may consider a moderate broadening of the advertised pay range.
