Part-Time Chef (25 hrs) – Busy Bees at Bentleigh East

Hourly Rate: $30.93 per hour

About the Role

Busy Bees at Bentleigh East is seeking a passionate Part-Time Chef to prepare nutritious and delicious meals for the children in our care. With a licensed capacity of 81 children, you will play a key role in supporting their health, wellbeing, and learning by providing fresh, high-quality meals each day.

This role is 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday), with flexibility for morning to early afternoon shifts.

As our Chef, you will:

• Prepare fresh, healthy, and culturally inclusive meals and snacks for children

• Plan and deliver weekly menus in line with Nutrition Australia and Busy Bees guidelines

• Cater for special dietary requirements including allergies, intolerances, and cultural needs

• Ensure the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance (HACCP)

• Manage kitchen supplies, stock rotation, and ordering

• Work closely with centre leadership to promote children’s health and wellbeing

What You’ll Need

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification)

• Food Handling Certificate

• Knowledge of HACCP, food safety programs, and menu planning requirements

• Experience as a Chef in childcare, schools, or aged care settings (highly desirable)

• Current Working with Children Check (VIC)

• Current First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)

• Full Australian working rights
